I am a 27 year old sales professional. I am prone to excessive sweating and hence sweat stains. I am often embarrassed by the sweat stains on my clothes as I run through meetings daily. How do I avoid sweat stains?
Sweat stains can leave you in a sorry plight, especially when you have no time for a deo-break during meetings or a busy day. Yellow stains or sweat patches on the back and armpit areas of your shirts can leave you feeling quite uneasy. Here are a few tips to avoid sweat stains in the first place:
While it’s understandable that you have to be presentable at your workplace, don’t beat yourself up about it. Wear comfortable clothing and don’t subject yourself to tight and fitting office wear. Before you head off to work, use the deodorant or antiperspirant a few minutes prior to donning your clothes, so that it dries off completely and doesn’t leave any stains. Also stick to spraying only a thin layer of deodorant. You can play it smart with prints and colours too. Dark colours and very small checks help hide sweat stains.Whether it’s the dampness of the monsoons or the heat at your work place that’s a problem, cotton cools you down and doesn’t trap moisture. Polyester or poly cotton should be avoided.Wear a cotton tee shirt or a ganjee underneath. The cotton layer will in fact keep the perspiration away from your shirt and absorb it.Try on natural materials for clothing if you can. Hemp, soy, bamboo control the odour factor quite well.
Additionally, a high and consistent intake of water helps to regulate your body temperature, thereby making you sweat less. Switch to using anti-bacterial soaps to reduce the chance of any bacterial infection and body odor.
