I am 26 years old and a working professional. Once I am back from long hours at work, I notice a strong stench from my feet. How do I get rid of smelly feet?
Smelly feet can be quite a common problem for men because of sweat that remains trapped in socks when wearing closed shoes for most of the day. Smelly feet can be rather problematic because of the discomfort it causes to people around you, which can also make it embarrassing for you. Here are a few tips to help you get rid of smelly feet:
Hygiene is a must. You can’t keep wearing the same shoes and socks throughout the week. Even if you have to, don’t skip on washing the socks and airing out your shoes. This is important to get rid of the accumulated sweat. To keep the stench away, along with airing your regular pair of shoes you could spray some deodorant and sprinkle talcum powder. Shoes turn smelly also because of where they are stored, so be particular that you don’t keep them endlessly in damp and dark cabinets.Keep your feet dry and clean. Dry off the areas between your toes after you shower. Apply some anti-fungal powder to ward off the odor.If you regularly deal with the embarrassment of smelly feet, it is best to keep a foot spray, deodorant or antiperspirant handy.Look for socks with ventilation panels and antibacterial socks. Such socks are equipped to fight against odour causing bacteria. If weather conditions permit, stick to canvas and leather shoes as they let the skin breathe freely. As and when you can, wear open-toe sandals to avoid any sweat accumulation.
You may also opt for foot care treatments like foot spas and pedicures. It is best to make use of foot creams and washes to ensure hygiene. In case you find that your smelly feet problem is being aggravated, it would be best to visit a dermatologist for appropriate treatment.
