I am 25 years old, living in a metro city. I’ve developed blemishes for a while now. What are the easiest ways to get rid of them?
Facial blemishes can get unbearable if neglected due to various reasons. The causes of blemishes are not limited to women nor are the treatments. Inflammation, hormonal activity or even reaction to medications and stress are common causes of blemishes. Here are 6 tips that you could incorporate in your skincare routine.
1. When you notice a blemish or incase it reddens quickly, take an ice cube and wrap it in a cloth. Press this against the affected area for five minutes. This cools down the swelling and inflammation.
2. For blemish-free relief, look out for benzoyl peroxide contents in the face washes or moisturizers you use. Use such a face wash, every morning and night, wash well and gently dab your skin dry. Don’t be too harsh, while wiping your face as the blemishes may turn red.
3. A sunscreen with at least minimum SPF 15 should be applied every time you step out in the sun. Ideally, keep away from sun exposure as far as is possible.
4. Peppermint oil is a good cleanser for such a skin problem. Apply a few drops of the oil on your face; leave it on for 4-5 minutes and rinse it off with water.
5. Benzoyl peroxide blemish creams work extremely well as they get rid of any blockages causing the blemish. Apply the cream, preferably at night. Ensure that you don’t rub your face against your clothes.
6. Facial scrubs are not just meant for women. A weekly facial with a mild scrub for dead skin removal can help anyone with facial blemishes. This also helps reduce the chances of any further blemishes. Do not squeeze the blemish during the scrub as this may spread the infection.
To be on the safer side, keep away from oil based or heavy creams without a doctor’s prescription. If on heavy medications, it would be best to consult a doctor to examine your skin problem.
